February – Flowery Wedding Cakes

The second in my series of feature related special offers is going to be about sugar flowers.

You’ll see on my FAQ page that you can have sugar flowers, silk flowers or real flowers on a wedding cake.

While I offer all three options, my favorite as I’m sure you can tell from my site is sugar flowers, so this month, I want to encourage that.

For any wedding cakes booked in February, you get 25% off the price of any sugar flower element.

For example with my Antoinette cake:

The flower portion of the price of the £395 cake is £200, which means you get a £50 discount.

And with my Florence cake:

The flower portion of the price is £500, so the discount would be £125!

- Please note, this offer does not apply to cakes in my Signature range.

Celebration Village

Celebration Village is a one-stop shop for all your wedding needs. They have dresses, bridesmaid dresses, suits and suit hire, photographers, venue dressers – everything you could need! Most importantly, there are lots of my cakes there that you can see.

Your Merseyside Wedding Magazine

So I told you in December that I had two special announcements… the first is that I’ve had my cakes featured in Your Merseyside Wedding Magazine.

They did an interview with me, and made a lovely article with some pictures of my cakes. You can read the article here.

January – Lace Wedding Cakes

It’s January! It’s a new year, and that means it FlissyCakes anniversary time!

I want to make some really stunningly beautiful cakes this year, so my offers are going to focus each month on something that can make your cake that extra bit special.

For January, I’m going to start off with lace. I’ve got some new really beautiful lace molds, so for any cakes booked in January you can have additional lace decoration at no extra charge!

December – Special Offer

The more observant among you may have noticed that we’re half-way through December and there is no December special offer yet.

This is mostly because I’ve been so busy. December is usually a quiet month for me, but not this year!

I have a very special project I’m working on at the moment, and I’m preparing an anniversary special offer to beat last years, so if you’ll bare with me, I’m going to have to skip a month on the special offer front.

I will however leave November’s open until the end of the year – 50% off my spectacle range for two more people.

FlissyCakes Recommends – Minerva Ensemble

I recently heard the Cheshire based string trio Minerva Ensemble perform, and wished I could get married again so I could have them at my wedding. Once I realised that wasn’t going to happen, I even started thinking of reasons to throw an event that would require a string trio.

Their classical interpretations of contemporary music (especially Don’t Stop Believing by Journey) are just perfect for reception music. You really have to listen hard to work out you’re not listening to a seasoned classic – it adds a little bit of fun, and a really personal touch.

They do all the popular pieces you would expect too, like my favourite Canon in D by Pachelbel, as well as Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The oboe adds a warmth to the traditional string trio/quartet sound, which I think gives a much more rounded orchestral feel to the music.

They do packages where they can perform at your ceremony, reception or breakfast or a combination of the three and in my opinion, their prices are really reasonable.

If you’re thinking of having a string trio at your wedding, you definitely need to check these guys out.

FlissyCakes & The Palace Hotel

The Palace Hotel is one of Manchester’s most prestigious hotels. Over 120 years old, it is a grade 2 listed building that offers 4-star conference, hotel and event (including weddings!) facilities for up to 1000 people.

And now, they have chosen FlissyCakes to be their preferred wedding cake supplier.

To celebrate this, Ryan and I went down for an exclusive photoshoot at the hotel. The hotel has really lovely architecture, and the rooms were all dressed so the cakes looked really great:

Yep! That’s right, after 6 long months, my galleries are finished!

As I have two new galleries, I think it’s also time to introduce you to my two new ranges of cakes.

Cakes from my signature range embody exactly what it means to have a FlissyCakes cake. Each signature cakes come in two, three, four and five tier varieties, you can have them in any colour and any flavour without changing the price.

While my signature cakes make the process of choosing and designing a wedding cake really easy, I much prefer making bespoke cakes that bring out my client’s personal taste and style. My spectacle range shows the biggest and best of what I can do.

November – Something special

The first person who pays their deposit in November can have one of my Spectacle cakes for HALF PRICE!

Rules of the offer:

- Delivery date must be BEFORE 30th April 2012.
- Offer is open to the first person to pay their deposit (not first person to enquire).
- Offer applies to each of the 5 cakes in my Signature Gallery.
- Paris cake is for 3 tiers of cake, and 6 fake tiers (don’t worry, it’ll still make 300 – 600 portions!)

October – Special Flavours

Wedding cakes are traditionally fruit cake, but more and more these days people are choosing sponge cake.

I’m on board with this, I much prefer sponge cake over fruit cake. I reckon around 80% of the tiers of cake (remember, you can have each tier a different flavour for no extra cost) I make are sponge, so this is definitely the way things are going.

I offer over 100 different flavour combinations for sponge wedding cakes, but people are usually a bit overwhelmed by this, and end up choosing regular things like chocolate or lemon.

So, for October I am launching some super-premium flavours, but not charging any more for them. You can have literally any flavour you like, but why not consider:

- Super-moist chocolate sponge with chocolate fudge filling and chocolate buttercream

- Extra light vanilla Genoese sponge with white chocolate infused Italian Meringue buttercream with swirls of raspberry coulis

- Lemon sponge with lemon crystals, lemon curd filling, and lemon sherbert buttercream
