Hello everyone! Official competition adjudicator Ryan here
Firstly, I want to say thank you so much to everyone who entered. The reviews that have been left were all so lovely and it makes Fliss and I really happy that every single one of you were so pleased with your cakes.
Thank you for choosing Fliss to make your wedding cake.
Now… on to business!
In total, there were 92 entries, which means that if you liked the Facebook page, followed on Twitter, nominated in the County Brides Awards and left a review on Google places, you had a greater than 1 in 10 chance of winning. Those are pretty good odds if you ask me, but unfortunately, there can only be one winner.
And the winner is….

Entry number 34!!
Who is entry number 34??

Julia!! Congratulations!
Thank you once again to everyone who took part. Fliss really really appreciates all of your support. If she wins the County Brides award, we are going to send two cupcakes (one for you, one for your partner) to everyone I know who nominated her.
Happy April everybody! Can you believe we are 25% through 2012 already?
I’ve been having some really great ideas recently for really colourful cakes, especially ones where the base icing colour is something other than white or ivory.
Normally, I have to charge quite a bit extra for this, as colouring icing so that the colour is really even takes aaaaaggggeeeeessss and is really hard work too with all the kneading.
For my special offer in April, I’m going to be offering this upgrade for free.
You can have any colour you can think of, and I can even computer-colour match the icing (just like Dulux!) to samples of your dress fabric or invitations, and can even match shimmer, lustre and texture if you like.
Remember, the special offer applies to cakes booked in April, (you don’t have to be getting married in April).
Hi Guys,
Channel 4 is making a programme about how people are dealing with the recession, and is looking for families that have a wedding coming up soon that would be interested in featuring in one of their shows.
Here is the show remit that explains it better than I can:
This summer, we want to find out what life is really like for families in Britain in 2012.
While the attention of the world is on the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics this summer, most of us will be trying harder and harder to get by.
Against this backdrop we’re hoping to tell the stories of inspiring, warm and engaging families – from all areas and backgrounds across the UK, living through these tough economic times.
We’d like to reflect a range of issues faced by families in 2012 – from redundancy and cutbacks, money worries and the need to find a new job, to fears about your own business and paying your rent or mortgage.
One of the areas we’re hoping to explore is how families are planning weddings; we wondered what it’s like to plan your dream wedding in a supposed time of austerity. It would be great to get a family who have are rallying round the couple, making the most of it, or even planning a budget do-it-yourself wedding. Perhaps the couple is having to move in with their in-laws to save money or take on more shifts at work to pay for the dress.
Ultimately, we want this to be a definitive series looking at British family life, celebrating their resourcefulness, strength and even humour as they take on the challenges of this year.
We’re currently researching the series and would like to speak to as many families as possible about their experiences.
Any conversations will be informal and confidential and do not commit people to taking part.
If you are interested, please get in touch with Katy on 020 438 1804 or email 2012@twofour.co.uk
You can read some more about it here:

Hey everyone, I’ve been nominated in the 2012 Bridal awards!
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to nominate me.
We’re not there yet though, if I am to stand a chance of winning, I need you all to vote for me, and the competition is pretty stiff.
If you were really happy with the cake that you got from me, and would like to vote for me, it only takes 2 minutes to sign up and vote. Click on the banner below to go to the Bridal Magazine site.

Again, thank you all so much,
~Fliss~
Happy March everyone!
March’s special offer is for big cakes. For orders in March that are 5 tiers and above, you can have a extra tier for free!
There is not much more to say about it than that, other than if you’re looking for a really really big cake, please get in touch, I want some photos of something really big for my site, so I’ll do a good price for you.
I always knew that these existed, but I’ve never been to a party that had one. I always assumed that they were bespoke and expensive.

I’m talking about photo booths, and I was wrong. I recently met Alix and Luke from Eventbooths, and think what they do is great.
They offer a service where they will bring one of their booths and lots of funny props to your event, and you and your guests get unlimited photos.

Oh, and the photos are all free on the night, and available (Securely) online after the event too.
It’s such a great package that they offer, photobooths are great fun and Eventbooths makes them really accessible.
Click on the link below to check out their website, prices start from £595.

The second in my series of feature related special offers is going to be about sugar flowers.
You’ll see on my FAQ page that you can have sugar flowers, silk flowers or real flowers on a wedding cake.
While I offer all three options, my favorite as I’m sure you can tell from my site is sugar flowers, so this month, I want to encourage that.
For any wedding cakes booked in February, you get 25% off the price of any sugar flower element.
For example with my Antoinette cake:

The flower portion of the price of the £395 cake is £200, which means you get a £50 discount.
And with my Florence cake:

The flower portion of the price is £500, so the discount would be £125!
- Please note, this offer does not apply to cakes in my Signature range.
The second announcement is that I now have a display of my cakes at Celebration Village in Manchester!

I’ll be there every Saturday, so feel free to call in for a chat!
Celebration Village is a one-stop shop for all your wedding needs. They have dresses, bridesmaid dresses, suits and suit hire, photographers, venue dressers – everything you could need! Most importantly, there are lots of my cakes there that you can see.
So I told you in December that I had two special announcements… the first is that I’ve had my cakes featured in Your Merseyside Wedding Magazine.

They did an interview with me, and made a lovely article with some pictures of my cakes. You can read the article here.
They put me in the launch issue too, it’s a great magazine so go check it out!
It’s January! It’s a new year, and that means it FlissyCakes anniversary time!
I want to make some really stunningly beautiful cakes this year, so my offers are going to focus each month on something that can make your cake that extra bit special.
For January, I’m going to start off with lace. I’ve got some new really beautiful lace molds, so for any cakes booked in January you can have additional lace decoration at no extra charge!
